A major milestone for GTE in 2025 - 40 years.
Back in 1985, the origins of the organisation came about to fill a community niche by providing training and skills to young people, who then found homes as apprentices and trainees with local host employers.
This was our first ever intake of apprentices in 1986, who went on to become local mechanics, plumbers, chefs and greenkeepers.
Some of this group went on to open their own thriving local businesses and become Host Employers themselves, passing skills onto the next generation.
We made history by being the first community-based apprenticeship scheme in South Australia.
Now we’re proud to report we have assisted more than 3000+ apprentices and trainees find employment and complete their training.

Group Training Employment (GTE Apprenticeships Traineeships) are a local not-for-profit Group Training Organisation based in Mount Gambier and Naracoorte and servicing the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.
GTE proudly support and champion local businesses and organisations and have been operating since 1985.
what we do
Group Training Employment are a one-stop Apprentice & Trainee management service.
Our service includes payroll, superannuation, workcover, coordination of training, WHS consultation, recruitment and dedicated support from one of our experienced Field Team.
